How did you become a stylist?
I honestly became a stylist by accident. I was doing plus size modeling around SF and women would come up to me and ask where I shopped and how I found cute plus sizes clothing. It never occurred to me that finding clothing was hard for people or that there were people who did not like to shop. From there I enrolled in the Image Consulting program at City College of SF and turned it into my career.

How does being a plus size woman impact the way you style women?
I don’t know if it does really. I take every clients very differently. That being said I think I have mastered the art of dressing for my body so it becomes very important when I style clients not to let them stay in their box and revert to bad habits. I make sure that they embrace their bodies and dress accordingly.
What would be a recommendation you would make to a plus size client about styling?
The same recommendations I make to all clients are based in something my granny instilled in all of us children. “Dress for the body you have RIGHT now. There is nothing wrong with you right now, and there is sure as heck no reason to wait to look good. Get up, get dressed and face the world and then do it again tomorrow.”

and the confidence to just be your amazing self
What are your favorite accessories in your closet?
I think my crazy Kate Spade handbag collection makes me happy, but if I had to pick just one thing my wedding ring. I wear it everyday and it the most important item I own.

What are your favorite IGIGI pieces to refer to clients?
I think almost all of my plus size clients have the Dominique in some color. I think I have it in 5 colors.
What makes IGIGI different than only plus size brands you work with?
I think what I love about IGIGI is that the styles are classic, you never have to worry about something you pull out of the back of your closet looking dated if it is from IGIGI. I also love that IGIGI is not afraid to be sexy. I think somewhere someone said plus size women needed to be dowdy and covered up, so I am so glad I don’t have to worry about that from IGIGI.
IGIGI asks women to identify things they love about themselves in our #IGIGILoveYourself campaign, what do you love about yourself?
I love my drive to make my life what i want. but if we are talking body parts I love my legs and I have a nice bust (lol). I also love my face when I laugh or smile , I think it is how you see into my heart .
How do you inspire women on an everyday basis?
I can say I do not set out to inspire anyone so every time someone says I inspire them I want to know how. Honestly, everyday I give 100% to being the best wife, daughter, granddaughter, girlfriend, business owner and I hope that if people around me see that, they they will give 100%. I would hope that people would see I have risen above things that have happened to me in the past to become the woman I am. I want someone see that if you are determined to be more than where you came from and what you have survived, you can do anything

Real life friends Amina Mucciolo of Studio Mucci and plus size fashion stylist Marcy Guevara on the set of the #IGIGILoveYourself Body Positive Campaign
Have you shopped our Friends and Family Sale yet? This October, we’ve been thinking of way to really honor our customers with our “social sale” and “friends and family sale”. With the holidays coming up, we hope our customers also take time to treasure those they love the most. Check out our blog below for “5 Ways to Be A Better Friend or Family Member”!
1. Stop Giving Advice
Advice is great (if someone asks for it). However, often times friends are just looking for someone who will listen when they vent. Make sure your friend or family member asks for your opinion before giving unsolicited advice.

2. Be (Genuinely) Happy for Your Friend or Family Members Success
You may feel like you have a rivalry with a friend or sibling, but why not try and do something different…. be happy for them. We know sometimes it’s hard to look at someone’s vacation photos when you’re slaving away at work, but try something new and feel joy for that person. When someone has success, like a new relationship, engagement, job or child, why not exhibit genuine happiness for that person? That way when you have something good happen to you, you know your friends will be there.

3. Do the Little Things
Meeting a friend for a gym sesh? Why not bring them a cup of their favorite brew? Have an office bff? Why not bring them flowers when they get that big promotion? Has mom been watching your kids every weekend? Why not treat her to spa day or IGIGI dress? Doing the little things help to ensure your friends and family that they’re someone special to you. Maybe you’ll be lucky and they’ll start doing the same for you.

4. Offer to be DD
People go out, especially during the holiday season. Cabs and uber cost money, and sometimes people take their lives into their own hands. If you know Dad’s off to watch football with his buddies and will throw back a few beers, or your girlfriend and her hubby are going out for their anniversary, why not take a Netflix night and be on-call as their designated driver. You don’t want your friends or family members chancing it.

5. Let go of grudges.
Family and friends who have been together a long time, often have their share of drama. Instead of holding grudges because a sibling gets more financial attention or a friend is hanging out with someone you don’t like, why not follow the words of Frozen and “let it go”. If you can’t be happy and positive with the people in your life, what’s the point? If you can’t forgive, maybe it’s time to release them from your social circles all together.
