Sporting a Comfy, Casual Look with the IGIGI Virginia Plus-Size Dress in Cobalt Blue

There’s something so cozy about a flannel shirt when it’s rainy outside and you don’t really feel like going anywhere or running those last minute Christmas errands.
I decided to wear the IGIGI Virginia Plus-Size Dress in Cobalt Blue with my favorite flannel top for the cool weather. I added my chocolate brown suede riding boots to round out the look for a casual day of weekday shopping and lunch out with a few friends. Plus, whenever I wear flannel, it always kind of makes me feel like it’s 1996 and I’m headed to a Hole concert to hang out with Courtney Love.
The IGIGI Virginia Plus-Size Dress in Cobalt Blue is über comfortable, made from a poly/elastane material which feels like a soft jersey. The draping in front is also incredibly flattering and there isn’t too much cling, which is helpful in disguising the couple extra Holiday pounds that most people carry this time of year.
The v-neck is flattering as well and since it’s not too low, it can be appropriate for essentially any event because there’s no gratuitous cleavage. The bodice is elastane secured as well, so there is absolutely no gaping! The empire waist forces an hourglass figure, giving a great slimming effect and cinching the silhouette. I tied my flannel under the bust to emphasize the smallest part of my waist even more.
The a-line style skirt is a little bit on the longer side, like most IGIGI dresses, so I would recommend pairing it with heels if you want it to hit precisely at the knee. However, I liked the somewhat exaggerated length and while wearing my flat boots, the IGIGI Virginia Plus-Size Dress in Cobalt Blue hit me about an inch below my knee, right before my boots. I feel that the longer length really extended my figure and made me look taller (for the record, I’m 5’7”, so the IGIGI Virginia Plus-Size Dress in Cobalt Blue will probably fit the taller ladies a little differently).
For those who are interested, the IGIGI Virginia Plus-Size Dress also comes in black. However, I liked the cobalt version since it felt a little more festive to me and, quite frankly, I have more than enough black dresses in my closet (I suppose I never really grew out of my teenage goth stage). If you want some tips on how to style the IGIGI Virginia Plus-Size Dress in Black, I would recommend checking out my previous blog post about styling a great LBD with the IGIGI Plus-Size Veronica Dress, since the Virginia Dress is somewhat similar in cut. However, the unique details in the two dresses are very different and they really make all the difference.
For those who want a more flirty cut, I would recommend the Virginia Dress and for those who want a more tailored look, I would suggest the the Veronica dress, since the keyhole neckline brings to mind a slightly more austere aesthetic. Both dresses are really excellent for women who are a little bit more on the busty side, since there is plenty of room in the bodice.
How would you style the IGIGI Virginia Plus-Size Dress in Cobalt Blue? Would you dress it down for day or throw on a pair of peep toe pumps, grab a pashmina, and wear it out for a great date night out? Let me know in the comments.
