Plus-Size Model Robyn Lawley Lands Huge Beauty Campaign

Posted by on December 23, 2013

Robyn Lawley is an utterly flawless goddess. I could write articles upon articles (and sort of have) about her unapologetically body positive, thigh-gap hating soul, and I’m really not the only one.

The 24-year-old Australian plus-size model has gotten her share of headlines this year. In June, Robyn was awarded Model of the Year during the Full Figured Fashion Week and her awesome anti-thigh gap editorial on The Daily Beast just went viral a few months ago, gaining her a lot of new admirers.

What Makes A Plus-Size Model Plus-Size?

Posted by on December 10, 2013

There are a lot of really amazing plus-size models. Everyone can now officially accept and acknowledge that, especially now that they’re evening landing cover shoots for major fashion magazines. However, there is some debate about what makes a plus-size model a plus-size model, and for good reason.

Many of the plus-size fashion models that we see do not appear to look plus-size even though many of them have measurements that allow them to fall in and around a US size 12. After all, models are tall, and 220 lbs. on a 6’2” woman is going to look a lot different from 220 lbs. on a 5’2” woman and there’s nothing wrong with that. Everyone’s body is different and while that can be frustrating, it’s also pretty great because bodies, all bodies, are awesome and deserve to be celebrated.

Plus-size Model Robyn Lawley Doesn’t Have A Thigh Gap Either, And She’s Cool With It

Posted by on November 13, 2013

Robyn Lawley is really blowing up right now. Her own swimsuit line, a Ralph Lauren campaign, and a Vogue Italia cover are just some of the credentials that the 24-year-old now has on her resume.

The gorgeous, Australian plus-size model wrote an awesome October editorial, titled “Why The Dangerous ‘Thigh Gap’ Trend Makes Me Mad,” for the Daily Beast after a photo of her in a corset appeared in a Facebook group for proponents of thigh gaps. But, GASP! Lawley does not have a thigh gap (like most women), and so the trim US size 12 model was called “pig,” “hefty,” and “too fat,” among other more unpleasant comments by responders.
