Trends That Work For Your Shape
Spring is here and it’s time to start pulling out the pretty dresses! YEAH!! There are so many options and styles available, from A-line to Body-con, but how do you know what works best for your shape? Do you know how these dresses will fit your body? Will they flatter your figure or will they make you look heavier than you are? How do you even begin?

The first thing to do is identify the shape of your body. I’m sure you’ve heard “The Fruit”, apples and pears or maybe “The Geometrics”, the triangles, the hourglass and squares…but which one are you?? Thankfully, IGIGI offers a wonderful system, The Shape Stylist, which helps to identify your body shape and then ultimately assists with choosing the perfect dress for your shape.

Now if you already know your body shape, here are a few ideas and tips for selecting the perfect dress!

Fuller Bust – Avoid dresses that create volume at the top; keep the volume on the bottom. Also if you’re into prints, keep the scale or size of the print smaller on the top.
Thicker Waistline – Search for dresses that have a distinct waistband to help create definition in your waist.
Fuller Hips & Bottoms – This is where personal taste comes in to play. Some women like to accentuate this area by wearing a fitted or body hugging silhouette. This can be good as long as the dress is not too tight. Consider going up a size for a little more wiggle room and alter the top for a more precise fit. However, if you are not into the body-con fit, search for A-line or fit & flare dresses. This style is fitted or tapered in the top with clear definition in the waist and much fuller on the bottom.

The best thing to do is try on a few dresses that you like and see how they look on your body; that way you will know for sure if it works for you.
