"As usual for IGIGI’s dresses, the quality of the Sapphira is faultless. The fabric is the slinky jersey that the company is known for, layered over a denser jersey lining, so that while the dress seems light and floaty nothing on the surface clings or hugs too tight to the body. And because the lining is stretch too it’s fantastically comfortable to wear; no constraining waistbands or seams that pull when you move.
The boat neckline would normally make me feel a little top heavy, but the contrast shell draws attention away from my bust, and also prevents the print from overwhelming my face. The elbow-length sleeves make it easily trans-seasonal and I like that it pulls into a drape on the hip.
It was promoted as a work wear item, and it’s certainly appropriate for the office (unless you’re in one of those “suit” offices; in which case, you poor thing) but it’s one of those happy dresses that goes from office, to party, to date, to weekend wear with ease. "
"The Isolde is a lovely dress that looks classy enough for a night on the town, but is comfortable enough to travel in. The demure neckline, and midi-length hem make it ideal for occasions where less is more, and the obi-style belt gives the dress a lovely shape.
The fabric is a heavy, textured jersey that won't crush, no matter what you throw at it. As usual for IGIGI, the dress is fully lined. The bracelet length sleeves are cut raglan-style giving an unstructured glamour to the top of the dress, and the narrow cuffs draw attention to delicate wrists.
You could easily swap out the obi for a different belt, or skip the belt entirely and embrace the unstructured nature of the dress with some patterned tights and killer accessories. "
"This dress is RIDICULOUSLY gorgeous in person. Seriously. IGIGI’s clothes are always beautifully made, and while I’ve found that I’ve had some sizing issues in the past, when it works it WORKS. This dress is an absolute case-in-point. I love the empire waist, which for once doesn’t make me look ridiculously top-heavy OR pregnant!
The silhouette – combined with the wide neckline and embroidered skirt – actually reminds me of a Regency period gown. The bodice is ruched around the bust and showcases one’s cleavage to devastating effect. The straps are wide enough to hide your bra. The skirt is something else. The underskirt is made of IGIGI’s customary jersey and isn’t gathered, so you don’t have an excess of fabric sitting around your middle. The overskirt is made of a soft netting and it slightly gathered, giving it a lovely soft drape. The embroidery is heavy with beading, and culminates in a GORGEOUS scalloped hem.
All in all I’d say this is one of the most perfect “formal” dresses I’ve seen. It’s elegant, easy to wear, travels well (great for interstate weddings!) and I can’t WAIT for more opportunities to bring it out."
"This is a dress to be looked at in. It’s the very antithesis of the safe, black, shapeless smock dresses that plus-size women are frequently told they SHOULD be wearing.
It’s quite a heavy, structured jersey that – combined with IGIGI's trademark complete lining – sucks you in and smoothes you down. The wrap effect is mock – meaning you’re in no danger of flashing your knickers – but the soft ruching at the hip gives the dress a super sexy drape.
I’m quietly thrilled that it somehow manages to give me my favorite (unattainable) female shape, the cello, playing up the curves of my hips rather than drawing attention to my boobs. With a dress like this there’s no need to fight for attention."
