"The first thing that I noticed was that once again, an IGIGI dress fit me like it was made for me. Seriously, I think they have a fit model who has my exact measurements. (If you compare my picture to the picture of the model wearing it on the website, you’ll see what I mean.) Right off the hanger it was ready to wear; fully lined and wrinkle free with a satiny skirt and a jersey top.
I absolutely loved the fact that there were no zippers or sashes or anything else to deal with. Another plus is that unlike some of my other IGIGI dresses, the waistband on this one was stretchy so I didn’t have to do any weird boob wrangling to get it over my head. The empire waist hit just right on me and the draping of the pleats helped de-emphasize my poochy belly spots.
I will admit the fabric on the top feels a little thinner and less likely to last 5+ years they way the rest of my IGIGI dresses have; I’m used to a heavier duty jersey style fabric. I’m going to have to keep an eye on it to see if it starts pilling, etc. Also, I discovered that the top does wrinkle eventually if not folded very carefully on a hanger in a plastic bag. (But the wrinkles do seem to fall out on their own if you leave it hanging up long enough!)
Another plus about the Vera is that it’s got a fantastic neckline for wearing to work or dinner with more conservative family members. I often have to pin my IGIGI dresses to help keep my chest covered but in this one, it’s not an issue. But the dress is still sassy and the neckline is still super flattering. It’s nice to feel pretty even when being more modest and less sexy! Keeps me covered even while playing with wee doggies!
Final verdict: Two thumbs up! I’ve gotten nothing but compliments every time I’ve worn it, it fits like a dream, and it’s light enough to wear even as the weather starts warming up. You should totally get one for yourself. And now you have an opportunity to win a gift certificate so you can do just that!"
"I am a sucker for anything that screams classic or vintage that I can wear season after season, and the Cheryl is one of those pieces. It’s a true wrap dress a la Diane Von Furstenberg, which is a silhouette that I swear is universally flattering.
The Cheryl is a bit more business like, with a simple straight V neck and the color blocking that I am seeing everywhere these days. So when I put it on not only was I pleased to see myself in something in a flattering shape, I was pleased that it was a very "right now" trendy piece. (The fact that there were pockets just made me love it even more!)
The Cheryl is a perfect work dress when it’s adjusted just right, but it is totally perfect for days when I have an evening engagement right after work. Shift it to a little more low cut, add a little more make up and long sparkly earrings and voila! Date night prettiness! The best part about dresses is that one dress can be ten different outfits….switch the shoes from pumps to sandals, wear pearls instead of sparkles, toss on a little shrug or wear some tights and boots and one dress can be an entire wardrobe.
The Cheryl is perfect for my spring/summer wardrobe with my favorite t-strap wedges and a giant black pendant. In winter, I think it’s going to be great with big hoop earrings, a black pashimina around my neck and some knee high boots. In other words, I LOVE IT.""
