Transitioning from Winter to Spring in the IGIGI Chelsea Plus-Size Dress in Ombre Floral

Posted by on February 10, 2014

Since it seems like the dreaded “polar vortex” (which would be the best frappuccino name ever, by the way) will seemingly never end here in Chicago, I find myself looking for brighter prints to spruce up my wardrobe and cut through the cold, snowy weather. While browsing the IGIGI site, I came across the beautifully vibrant IGIGI Chelsea Plus-Size Dress in Ombre Floral and I knew that the awesome “sixties flower child” vibe that this dress gives off was just what I was looking for.

The ombre effect of the pattern on the IGIGI Chelsea Plus-Size Dress in Ombre Floral simply means that the color tones on the dress shade into each other and the color is graduated from light to dark. The placement of the ombre shading on the dress starts right under the bust and then goes down several inches, blending to the top of your hips to minimize the smallest part of your body.

Chelsea Plus-size dress

The Chelsea Plus-Size Dress in Ombre Floral has an ultra flattering a-line skirt and it is fully lined, like most IGIGI garments, so you don’t have to worry about any panty-lines peeking through.

I chose to accessorize the IGIGI Chelsea Plus-Size Dress in Ombre Floral with semi-opaque black tights, a detachable, gold sequin, peter pan collar necklace, and high, brown riding boots with an extended calf. The IGIGI Chelsea Plus-Size Dress in Ombre Floral is such a season-less dress, so when the weather changes, I will wear it with bare legs, wedge sandals, and maybe a jean jacket if the nights are cool.

There is ruching under the bust on the IGIGI Chelsea Plus-Size Dress in Ombre Floral that culminates in a two-inch high contrast waistband to create an hourglass figure and show off the smallest part of your waist.

The flattering scoop neckline makes it easy to wear any bra with the IGIGI Chelsea Plus-Size Dress in Ombre Floral and the 3/4 length sleeves really make the dress appropriate for any setting. Plus, you don’t have to worry about pairing a cardigan with the dress since you have full coverage. The dress is a bit on the long side, so this is easily a dress that you can wear to the office or to any family functions. In the Spring, I would definitely pair the IGIGI Chelsea Plus-Size Dress in Ombre Floral with some high-heeled wedge sandals to show off a little more leg, but the extra coverage is definitely appreciated in this freezing weather!

The IGIGI Chelsea Plus-Size Dress in Ombre Floral is made from a poly/elastane material and has a decent amount of stretch, so I would recommend ordering down a size if you are on the fence about which size to order.

This dress has a great pattern for any season: the combination of the dark background and the colorful floral print make it a perfect year-round pick. For more tips on how plus-size women can wear cool floral prints, check out our previous informational blog post from October, “Flower Power: Making Any Floral Print Work For Your Plus-size Shape,” for some great advice about what types of floral prints look the best for different body-types. Although, it’s always important to remember that you can pull off any look you want and fashion rules are made to broken!
