Plus Size Model Candice Huffine Makes History

The body positive movement has made headlines this year and is slowly infiltrating high fashion. Recently many companies have started initiatives to celebrate curvier women and the famous Pierllei calendar hopes to continues this trend with it’s 2015 release. Super model Candice Huffine will be the first plus size model featured in 50 years.
Candice Huffine is no stranger to making news as a trail blazing plus model. From being featured in major publications like Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar to working with Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld. The 29 year old Huffine will star alongside top industry names like Adriana Lima and Natalia Vodianova in the upcoming calendar.
With news of Huffine’s feature in a major industry project as well as Swimsuits For All’s all curvy model calendar and H&M featuring a plus model in it’s recent swimwear look book, is the body acceptance trend one that is here to stay?
Recently, singer-songwritter Meghan Trainor has been making waves with her debut single “All About That Bass” which is a doo-wop inspired ballad that serves a body positive message. The song has recently hit no 2 on the billboard top 100 and her debut release is one of the most anticipated of this year. We also reported on the backlash against Target’s limited options for plus sizes and it seems like plus size women are being strongly represented in the media as well as given a clear voice and platform.
