Dear beautiful friends! Since the launch of IGIGI in February of 2000, I wholeheartedly believed that manufacturing of our garments should be done with highest ethics and integrity. That is why for over a decade we have manufactured IGIGI garments in small batches of mass production in our hometown, San Francisco, CA.
However in 2019 we have made an important decision to switch from mass production to the sustainable made-to-order (the custom - couture) model. We are also committed to keep the prices of our couture custom designs at about the same affordable level as mass production pieces we used to offer in the past.
However, the costs of custom made-to-order production is 4-8 times higher (depending on the design) than mass production and therefore we had to find affordable high-quality manufacturing.
That is why I decided to manufacture in Ukraine, my Motherland - a beautiful sovereign European country with fascinating 1000+ year old history, amazing landmarks, cathedrals and churches and unbelievably delicious food. Our commitment was to empower Ukrainian women-seamstresses and tailors with higher quality of life, while having them provide wonderful craftsmanship of our garments.
On February 24th, 2022 the unspeakable have happened. Ukraine has been attacked by the neighboring Russia. Since that day our team has been hiding out in bomb-shelters without basic necessities - food, water and heat. Currently the IGIGI team has finished evacuating our seamstress team and their families along with all of our supplies and fabrics.
We have now opened two ateliers - one is Poland, near Warsaw and another one in Mexico, in Nuevo Vallarta. Both facilities are managed and operated by Ukrainian women refugees, seamstresses - entrepreneurs. We are committed to empower women and all of our workers with fair wages and higher quality of life.
Despite the devastation in Ukraine, IGIGI and our sister companies will continue to support Ukrainian people and humanitarian and peace efforts. We donate between 10-20% of our profits to a non-profit - https://www.pwicglobalimpact.com.
